You motherfuckers, you'll sing someday...

...unless you're tone deaf. That gets you a pass

Bio
Attention: I now have the ability/gear to record electric bass tracks specifically for your musical project in the comfort and affordability of my own home. Extended range basses (five and six-string), fretless, and stylistically diverse tones such as pickstyle and overdriven, distorted, and studio-grade analog effects are at my and therefore your disposal. Recording can be done in person, via the Internet, or tracks sent via snail-mail.

Check out my MySpace Page for full-length professionally recorded tracks of varying styles, and e-mail me for a conversation on the needs of your music and what I can bring to it with very affordable rates: bassinfo@ ianperge.com for more information. Short-notice fill-in gigs as well as longer-term "sub" situations are also available: please send an e-mail for my phone number for quicker service in these circumstances.

"I'm the Wal-Mart furniture of humanity – hastily assembled and not built to last": as spoken to [info]poorheather, October 2nd, 2003.

"In other news, I had no idea you could get sizes below a 30" inseam from Eddie Bauer. I love Eddie Bauer clothing! And to think I have Ian's lifelong, crippling, painfully debilitating disorder, combined with the enraging incompetence of his medical providers, to thank for that. Score one for palsy and dumbfuck medical professionals!: Josh Rasiel, May 5th, 2004.

"When Ian speaks, everyone listens. And when he types...everyone...hears the clickety clackety...and...like you know....reads....and stuff.": [info]masikus, November 4th, 2004.

Diagnosed with "terminal smartassitude" by [info]aleja, May 22nd, 2005.

"Clearly you're a comic genius of prodigious scale.": [info]vocalnick, May 27th, 2005.

Can one really sum up their existence in a few short sentences? I'll do my best, as I doubt you're interested in much more then that. I'm a former New Yorker who found himself doing time time "down south" (some don't consider Kentucky part of the south - from my POV, anything lower than Jersey counts) when he discovered true love, although happily my sentence in Mount Sterling, KY has been recently commuted with a move to Akron, OH that suits everyone involved amazingly well.
  • I'm a (lapsed) political science student, semi-professional bassist, hack writer, and part-time cynical bastard. Those four examples will likely give you a good understanding of my viewpoints on life, the universe and everything, but here’s a smattering of other words should you desire more knowledge – atheist, disabled, friendly, humorous, muso, open, sarcastic, and someone's significant other. My ego has been increased by 15% simply by typing the above.

  • As music is quite possible the largest factor in the development of my "being", I'm quite happy to share with you some snippets of my work as a bassist-for-hire (i.e. not my songs, and ones I was actually paid for recording). If any of these samples intrigue you, feel free to drop me a line and I'd be happy to mail you a full disc of material. Basically, I like my ego stroked at any given time, and will eat the cost of a CD-R and shipping for a nice comment or three.

...I've also succumb to the popularity contest that is MySpace.com, but mostly for the free full-song hosting I couldn't support otherwise... mostly. Music-related posts might not always be cross-posted, but I'll do my best to at least mention any writing... over there.

  • As a general rule I don't filter the vast majority of my entries. However, if you for some odd reason feel the craving to read the "forbidden entries", feel free to add me was a friend. All I ask is that you please post a comment (in any random entry is fine) so that I'm aware of the fact. I'll be more than happy to check you out and add you in return should you pique my interest. Don't fear – I’m far more likely than not to add you in response.

  • I'm also far from a grammar or thought nazi, but dumbass remarks in either expression or the thought processes behind them will be dealt with in a severity dependent on my mood at the time. This means anyone who uses AOLspeak without irony or "gay" as a negative will likely be shat upon in this public setting, for I don't suffer fools lightly. Disagree with me? Great, wonderful, fabulous - simply express it intelligently and with a modicum of respect for your fellow humans and we'll get along just fine.

  • My blogger code: B9 d t- k+ s u-- f i o x+ e l c-- (decode it), although some of my answers didn't fall neatly into the choices I was given. For instance, I own my own domain but prefer to keep this journal separate from it.

  • I'm the co-moderator of [info]gimptmi (along with the wise-beyond-her-years [info]aleja) which is pretty much what it sounds like. What can I say, I'm the guy that told and enjoyed gross stories when we were children.

  • You might want to check out some of my friends non-LiveJournal blogs, even though they're not wise enough to come hang with the Cool Kids. Take pity on them:

  • I'm also quite the whore, so if you find yourself with a surplus of money you can view a few items I'd like to own here - lesser priced items will increase my liking towards you, higher priced gifts can involve personal favors such as personalized mix discs, posting shoutouts-by-name, and in the case of large DVD sets the "elimination" of your enemies by large Italian gentlemen.
Now pour yourself a drink and sit back... but let me add one last line that signifies a good part of who I am:

"I wanna mock people" - Josh Lyman, "The West Wing"
